Brisbane Solar, Battery & EV Charger Design & Installation
04/09/2023
Our client in Brisbane contacted us to install a solar system, but quickly realised the benefits of electric vehicles and battery storage. Since installation, the estimated savings will be a huge $6,000 per year for the family.
In May 2023, our residential team at Gardel Electrical & Solar worked closely with our client to design a system that would suit his family’s power usage. We based the system on his most recent power bill, which was high for the household size. Going the extra mile, we completed a full energy audit over the course of two weeks, where we worked with the homeowner to identify where the large power drains were occurring.
Once this was completed, our team designed a 19.96kW PV Solar system, 19.2kWh Battery Storage and 22kW EV Car Charger system, designed to suit their current and future needs, for the next 10 years.
19.96kW Solar PV System, consisting of 48 Trina Solar Panels and Sungrow Inverters, plus a Sungrow 19.2kWh Battery with 6 Modules, and a 22kW Type 2 Evnex X electric vehicle charger.

1 x Sungrow SG5.0RT Three Phase 5kW Inverter
1 x Sungrow SH10.0RT Three Phase 10kW Hybrid Inverter
Battery System: Sungrow 19.2kWh High Voltage LFP Battery with 6 Modules
EV Charger: Evnex X (Three Phase) 22kW Type 2 Tethered Wall Charger
In the time since the system was installed in May 2023, it has generated over 9,750kWh of electricity. To put this into perspective, in just three months, this system has stopped an equivalent of 4,218 kilograms of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. This would amount to 513,064 smartphones charged.
The self-consumption rate for this system = 72%.
The self-consumption rate is the percentage of the total electricity generated that was consumed by the site. Increasing the self-consumption rate is the key to getting the best savings from a solar system.
Within the first year of having this system, our client is expected to save approximately $6,000.
The expected full system payback (Return on Investment) is only 5.5 years, and will only decrease with rising power costs. This is equal to a rate of return of 22.5%.
Our team love working on a fully integrated system, and bringing our three key products, battery, solar and chargers, together, with a million-dollar view, was extremely rewarding.
